New in my bag: Secrid Wallet

secrid, wallet, portefeuille, minipasjes, RFID, Radio Frequency IDentification, Marianne van Sasse van IJsselt, made in holland, René van Geer, ov-chipkaart,

I may not have the golden one but I do have my fair share of other cards in my little COS pouch. Since it’s not a real wallet, all of those *important* cards move as I move and get scratches on the chip. But no more of that since I got my very own Secrid wallet! My cards stay protected in a croco mini wallet which I always proudly show to my friends (look at this – opens secrid – bam, magic trick).

This Made in Holland product was designed by René and Marianne and already won a design award. Since every piece of paper turns into a plastic chip card, there had to be a wallet to protect every one of them. Not only do the cards stay intact, the wallet also stops fraude! How, you may ask? Well, here’s something I didn’t even know: Oyster or OV chip cards are RFIDs (Radio Frequency IDentification), which basically means people can detect them and copy them from a distance. Secrid took care of this problem by blocking the fraudulent radio waves with the aluminium case. So, it’s not only pretty, it’s quite useful as well.
