Battle of the bloggers?!

my blog is bigger than yours, caroline daily, firenze 4 ever

The battle of the bloggers seems to be on… Not that I noticed, because my fellow bloggers – who were also nomitated for the Weekend Blog Awards – and I seem to be going along pretty fine. Or are they just pretending? :D Nah, they wouldn’t! As for other bloggers, and I shall not give any names, seem to be a bit frustrated or disappointed. I get their point, I really do. They’re still small and upcoming bloggers and who knows, they might be famous one day… But there’s also the chance they won’t be. This doesn’t mean I think I will.

I started my blog back in august 2009 as an ignorant 17 year old. It was never intended to grow this big - can I call it big already? – but I carried on and it brought me to a wonderful life, the life of a blogger! For a year or so, I only posted random pictures I found on the internet and there was no case of writing whatsoever. But eventually, I realised what I wanted to study in college and so I decided to change my blogging way. Up to that point, there were only a handful of people that knew my blog even existed. I was to afraid to put it up on Facebook but on the other hand, I was slowly working my way into the Twitter world.

As I began typing actual words up on the screen, I got noticed by the little Blog Fairy, a.k.a. Saint Mary ;-) I was surprised, to say the least. Unfortunately, I already had to miss out on my first event and so I pushed away my very first acte de présence into the blogger scene. But I got there eventually, awkward moments and lonely evenings included. On the one hand, I was so excited to be a part of every event but on the other, I hated going there alone. I’m really glad I got to know the second generation of Belgian bloggers, the ones with which I experienced the Blogger’s Booming Business (call it BBB! :D).

Not that my blog was awesome all of a sudden. No, au contraire, I had to put a lot of work and effort into it. I blogged my way up and I decided to change the way it looked. I have to thank a few people for making it happen, especially Jana Keppens and Christophe Bouillon. As years passed, I eventually had to throw my blog onto Facebook. People were slightly empty-headed on the whole blogging issue but they’ve come around to actually liking it.

So just to make my point: I started off as a small blogger as well and to be honest, I think both my fellow bloggers and I deserve to be nomitated! We grew together and I think that people who follow a few of our blogs can really see that we’ve become friends over the years. I don’t know if I speak for myself but they made my blog bigger as well. I’ve learned a lot from them and so should everyone. I’m not asking you to copy each other’s ideas, posts or pictures but just look for inspiration!

I’m so over the internet wars, so please… Just vote for one of us and make us happy. Your day will come!

Realising you haven’t been posting for five days may cause a light panic attack. Even though my excuse is blog related, I still feel bad towards you, my readers. So, here I am again, sadly not really alive and kicking. Quite tired, in case you wanted to know. But I’ve been nominated for the Weekend Blog Awards and I couldn’t be any happier. Those awards are hosted by Knack Weekend, Le Vif Weekend and Enchanté in collaboration with the Belgian fashion label Essentiel. I’d be really happy if I could win this because that would mean people actually appreciate all the work and effort I put into it (except for this week, I’ve been busy). So please, vote for me!

Back to the topic of the day – or should I say week: Press days. Not an entire press days craze but I did manage to visit five showrooms. I’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly, but most importantly: I saw lots of collars! Yay for spending euros on a certain trend that will still be in next season :-D Let the pictures above guide you to some of my favorite pieces from upcoming Autumn/Winter 2012!

P.S. By hovering above the pictures, you can see which brand it is!

Shoes can be b*tches too

shoes, topshop, primark, marc by marc jacobs, isabel marant willow sneakers, forever 21, vintage, stills, sandwich botten, bensimon sneakers, vans blue, cowboy boots, ankle boots, heels, chunky heels

Hey everyone! I had this eureka moment like 5 minutes ago… Well, not exactly, but I did realise something. I came up with this idea to keep a blog calendar, where I have days with the same kind of post every time. I had the ‘Facts/Confessions/Wishes‘ things on monday, which started out because I had these funny fashion stories in my mind… but I obviously forgot about them and now I’m finding myself without any inspiration.

What I do want to do on mondays - wait, the semi eureka moment is on its way – is write an article. Of course, I’d do it in an Afrodite kind of funny way and with pictures, don’t worry, but it’ll also a bit more actual writing to it. I don’t know, does it seem like a good idea? Or am I going to have another light bulb above my head next week?

Anyway, here it goes: shoes are bitches. Let me tell you why… They hurt like hell, cost too much but above all: they can be too pretty for words. Subconsiously, that leads to buying them. Yes, I never said girls were logical, now did I? I’ve been walking in pain (and pride) at school today because I was wearing my new Isabel Marant dicker boots. My boyfriend is going to laugh and feel so good about himself if he reads this. YES, they hurt… OKAY?! I’ll just admit it already…

But they did cost 100 euros only. And they’re Isabel Marant. And they’re blue … but also grey! In three words: they are perfect! Also: they’re not alone. No, ladies and gentleman, I have got this shoe collection with several pairs I can hardly walk on, let alone sit with… But still, we gave away all of our euros just to get a pair! Girls will definitely be girls!
